Bedford Pilot Dies in Nebraska Plane Crash
October 11, 2024
A Bedford man died Monday in a Nebraska plane crash while delivering packages to Omaha. According to the Lincoln Journal Star, 37-year-old Philip K. Widner, of Bedford, crashed his twin-engine Beach C99 cargo plane near Norfolk, about 90 miles northwest of Omaha. The crash occurred at about 7:40 Monday evening (October 7) about a mile south of the runway at Norfolk Regional Airport, the Journal Star reported.
Police stated, the report continued, that Widner was a pilot for Ameriflight, a DFW Airport-based cargo carrier.
The cause of the crash has not been announced, but there were “several witnesses to the accident,” according to the report. The crash of Widner’s plane, the Journal Star added, was “the third fatal plane crash in northeast Nebraska in the past six weeks.”
