Incumbents Win in a Landslide for City Council
Saturday, May 3, 2025
Both of Bedford’s incumbent candidates, Amy Sabol and Steve Farco, pulled off dual landslide victories in Saturday’s City Council election, according to final figures released by Tarrant County.
Amy Sabol, running for Place 3, won with 2,103 votes, 78.27%, to pull off a third three-year term on the Council.
During her campaign in late March, Sabol stated Bedford needs to continue to “revitalize the City and improve our code enforcement.” She said she also wants to ensure that Bedford’s firefighters/EMTs and police officers “are well paid and provided with good facilities” because the market to hire them “is very competitive.”
She also wants Old Bedford School “to offer more” and is hopeful the City can “make it a better amenity.” She said, “Every facility in the City,” needs “to be used efficiently and effectively.”
For Steve Farco, running for Place 5, it was also an easy slide to win a second three-year term with 2,135 votes, 76.33% of the vote. He served previously on the Council, but took a break before returning in 2019.
Farco stated during his campaign that he wanted to continue working on economic development and code enforcement by focusing on the Comprehensive Plan, approved by Council last year, to “improve our shopping centers, attract new tenants and revitalize older areas.”
As an example, he said he has “collaborated with the cities of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, the Chamber of Commerce and the HEB ISD to produce the first-ever promotional video showcasing our community to potential investors” and would like to work on a similar project for the non-profit “6 Stones CPR.”
“Supporting our local businesses,” Farco commented, “not only strengthens our economy but also enhances the overall look and feel of our city.” He added that “shared goals” can be achieved by working together, such as raising awareness and creating effective policies in regard to the homeless.
