The Districts and Placemaking Program map, above, as described by and courtesy of the City of Bedford, “complements the Future Land Use Map by adding a sense of place to previously defined character.”

“The Plan does not attempt to project the location of all possible attractors.  It does recognize a series of Nodes focused around existing commercial centers, the hospital area, the H.E.B. ISD primary campus, and other logical sites.”

“The Comprehensive Plan recommends three distinct and highly marketable Districts with the capacity to bring a new level of energy and interest to Bedford.  Each is designed to be attractive to a different audience and to inject a new level of diversity at many levels.”

The Commons District “is an expansion of Bedford Commons to couple a number of the community’s nearby amenities with its major destination.”

The Meadows District “brings together a master planned housing development and natural areas with an existing commercial center.”

The Stonegate District “offers a gritty, eclectic “startup” feel with a mix of temporary and permanent commercial and open spaces as well as workforce housing that is affordable to artists and teachers alike.”
